Privacy notice
Your life is personal. We treat it that way.
This notice explains what miYear keeps, why it is needed, who may process it and the choices you have.
Last updated 29 August 2026
Who is responsible
Clare Langley, trading as miYear, is responsible for deciding how personal information is used.
Questions or privacy requests can be sent to hello@miyear.app.
What miYear keeps
- Your waiting-list email, invitation status and beta feedback.
- Your account details, Google account identifier, profile preferences and sign-in security records.
- The moments you choose to record, including writing, voice recordings, transcripts, photos, mood, people, goals and optional location.
- Your book design and, when print testing is used, delivery and order details.
- Basic technical information needed to keep the service secure and diagnose problems.
Your journal may contain very personal or sensitive information. You decide what to record. AI and precise location are optional.
Why it is used
- To keep the waiting list and contact you when access opens, based on your request and consent.
- To create and protect your invited account and provide the private beta you asked to use.
- To save, organise, search, back up and display the moments you add.
- To process optional AI, location or print features only when you choose to use them.
- To investigate faults, prevent misuse and improve the beta, where this is necessary for miYear's legitimate interests and does not override your rights.
- To meet legal obligations and establish or defend legal claims where necessary.
AI choices
miYear works with AI turned off. If you switch it on, only entries you have marked for AI may be sent to the configured provider. miYear does not use your journal to train a shared model.
You can turn AI off and exclude individual entries at any time. The private beta may use test or mock processing while production providers are being checked.
Who helps provide miYear
Trusted suppliers may process limited information only to provide their service. These currently include Hostinger for hosting and email, Neon for the database, Google for sign-in, and Prodigi for print tests. An AI or transcription provider is involved only if that optional feature is enabled.
Some suppliers may process information outside the UK. Where that happens, miYear will rely on an applicable UK adequacy regulation or approved contractual safeguard. Contact us if you would like more detail about a supplier or safeguard.
How long information is kept
- Waiting-list details are kept until access opens, you ask to leave, or the list is closed.
- Account and journal information is kept while your account is active and is removed through the account-deletion process, subject to short-lived security backups and records that must be retained by law.
- Sign-in sessions expire after 30 days.
- Beta feedback is kept only for as long as it remains useful for improving the test.
- Any later paid-order records will be retained for the period required by tax and consumer law; this notice will be updated before public sales open.
Your choices and rights
You can ask for a copy of your information, correct it, delete it, restrict or object to some uses, or receive portable account data. Where use is based on consent, you can withdraw that consent at any time.
Use the controls inside miYear, leave the waiting list, or email hello@miyear.app. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office.
Private beta and age
The private beta is only available to adults aged 18 or over who are invited personally by Clare Langley.
